Welcome to Growth Operator AI. I'm J White. I've run paid ads since 2005 across 30+ industries, generated calls for Tony Robbins' Business Breakthroughs, and built growth strategy for brands that went on to become $100M+ companies, including Tile and Giddyup. In each regular issue you'll get one proven marketing play you can use right away, with AI doing the heavy lifting, and today's is about ads.

Here's how most businesses run ads.

They find a few that work. They run them until they stop working. Then they scramble to make something new, launch it in a panic and hope.

Meanwhile, the ad platforms reward fresh creative, and the advertisers who test the most good angles find winners first.

In paid ads today, creative is the targeting. The algorithms find the buyers. Your ad's job is to stop the right person and give them a reason to click.

More good angles tested means more winners found. More winners means a lower cost per customer.

What an ad creative agent does

  • It generates new hooks, headlines and primary text from your best ads and your customers' real words

  • It turns reviews, sales call notes and FAQs into ad angles

  • It produces variations for testing: same offer with a different hook, or same hook in a different format

  • It helps you research competitor ads to spot the angles and offers working in your market

  • It drafts scripts for short-form video and UGC-style ads

  • It helps you read results and decide what to kill, keep and scale

The secret is the input, not the AI

When owners tell me AI writes generic ads, I ask one question: what did you give it to work with?

AI with no context writes like everyone else. AI with your customer's actual words writes ads that sound like your customer's inner monologue.

So build what I call a swipe brain. It's one document with:

  • Your 5-10 best-performing ads ever

  • Your 10-20 best customer reviews, word for word

  • The objections you hear on sales calls

  • Your offer details: what's included, price and guarantee

Load that into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or a similar assistant before you ask for a single headline.

A simple setup path

  1. Build your swipe brain as described above.

  2. Research the market. The Meta Ad Library shows active ads from any advertiser, and it costs nothing to use. Look at what competitors keep running. Ads that run for months are usually working.

  3. Generate in batches. Ask for 20 hooks at a time, grouped by angle: pain, desire, proof, curiosity, objection.

  4. Produce the creative. Design tools like Canva include AI features for quick image variations, and AI editing tools can help cut and caption video. The ad platforms have their own built-in AI creative options too. Test them, but watch them closely.

  5. Set a testing rhythm. Start with 3-5 new creatives a week: fewer on a small budget, more if you spend heavily.

  6. Define a winner before you launch. Know the cost per lead or cost per acquisition you can pay and still make a profit. Anything above that gets cut, no matter how much you like it.

One prompt to try today

Paste your swipe brain into your AI assistant, then try this:

❝

"Here are [X] real customer reviews: [paste reviews]. Find the 10 most emotionally charged or specific phrases customers used. Turn each into an ad hook, keeping the customer's actual words as much as possible."

Your customers have already written your best ads. They wrote them in your reviews.

A word of caution

AI makes things up. Fact-check every claim before it goes live. Never run a number, testimonial or promise you can't back up, and follow your ad platform's policies, especially in regulated industries like health, finance and housing.

Your move this week

Pull your top 3 ads by results from the last 90 days. Paste them into an AI assistant with 10 of your best reviews. Ask for 20 new hooks in the same voice. Launch the best 3 against your current winner.
